David Morris


David is a partner at Hobart law firm, Simmons Wolfhagen. He is the lead partner of the firm’s local government, planning and development team.

David has been a director on a number of boards in the not-for-profit and education sectors, including as a director of The Fahan School Board, the Hutchins School (incl. as Chairman of the Board) and Red Cross (Tasmania).

His experience also extends to management roles, both in the legal sector and beyond, including as managing partner of Simmons Wolfhagen (1998 – 2005), as a past Chair of the Tasmanian Young Lawyers, past Vice-Chair of the Australian Young Lawyers, one-time editor of the Australian Law Management Journal of the Law Council of Australia (circulated nationally), past committee member (Tasmanian representative) on the General Practice Management Section of the Law Council of Australia.

Currently, David is Chairman of the Housing Industry Association (Tasmania) Industry Policy Committee, a member of its Regional Executive committee and the Housing Industry Association (Tasmania) representative on HIA National Industrial Relations and Legal Committee.

He was elected to the OAK Tasmania Board in April 2017.
