Matthew Spicer

Matthew is a registered psychologist with 20 years of experience working across Government and Non-Government services. Joining the organisation in 2016, Matthew has a wealth of experience as a Practitioner and Clinical Manager. He works across the Health, Education, Community and Disability sectors in leadership development, service development and in training staff to support people with complex needs and Behaviour of Concern.

Matthew’s values of compassion, social justice and effective practice are evident through his work. He has been a leader in implementing training across the disability sector relating to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and in organisational cultural change processes to embed Trauma Informed Practices within services.

Matthew has been published in the Journal of Intellectual and Developmental Disability, together with other publications relating to PBS, crisis management and the reduction of restrictive practices. He has presented at international conferences on his work regarding positive approaches to crisis management and the efficacy of Trauma Informed Services including their synergy with Positive Behaviour Support.

Matthew is also a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and is a Faculty Member at the Sanctuary Institute Australia.
