Quiz Funds in Action

Participants in training programs now have better access to IT equipment thanks to new equipment purchased using funds raised at the Oak Possability Quiz night.

The inaugural Quiz Night event raised over $8000 to go towards several programs within the organisation. Part of those funds raised have been spent on the new equipment for the Oak Training and Development IT room which includes new chairs, ergonomic mouses, headphones, new larger monitors and wireless keyboard.

Oak Training and Development Services Manager Graeme Finlayson was happy that the Quiz Night surpassed its fundraising goal.

“We were able to purchase all of the items on our wish list which is such an awesome outcome!

The equipment purchased gives us tools to break down barriers that prevent people from accessing computers. We have purchased software that converts speech to text and assists people to navigate the computer through voice commands.. The larger screens assist people with vision impairments to better access the computer.

The training room is utilised by so many of our popular programs, so we are excited that we now have the capacity to provide greater access for people,” he said.

The much needed upgrades will benefit a wide range of our participants in a variety of programs including Transition to Work, Oak Community, Short Term Accommodation clients and participants in the IT training program delivered through our Registered Training Organisation.

Thank you to all of our donors and guests involved with the Oak Possability Quiz Night.
