OAK Sewing Service

Sewing and over-locking services (from hospitals to hospitality) by Tasmanian’s with disabilities

OAK Sewing Service has been operating as a commercial sewing business for thirty-seven years, providing sewing and overlocking expertise to individuals and industry from healthcare to hospitality.

_MG_3098From eco-friendly laundry bags to table cloths and firewood pouches, our specialised service adapts daily to a broad range of customer needs. And while our primary focus is large-scale commercial contracts, we also have an ability to dive into smaller scale or even single item jobs.

Our team loves a challenge and we are ready to shift the focus of our needles to accommodate whatever customer needs arise.

Carrying an in-house focus on quality, encouragement and genuine skill development, we’re pleased to offer certificate training to our employees via OAK Tasmania’s RTO, ensuring both personal and client needs are constantly being met, each step (and stitch!) of the way.

With a collaborative team of meticulously devoted staff, we are proud of the work we do. We are thrilled to be able to offer such a comprehensive service to so many businesses, while bringing a real sense of purpose, focus and commitment to the lives of those in our care. That’s what OAK Tasmania is all about.

“I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with the OAK sewing team under the guidance of your engaging employee Vicki Smith. Vicki has shown great creativity producing a range of dignified aprons for ladies who suffer from dementia”.

“Today I took the 1/2 apron that Vicki designed (with 3 pockets containing hairbrush, massager and dusting cloth) to a client at (our) nursing home. Out of all the sensory products she tried the apron was a big hit. I left the facility with her wearing it-“

“Through decades of experience, we’ve discovered that if we have a happy work force, we’ve always got a safe, productive work force, which in turn means that we have strong productivity, great product output, and everyone goes home with a smile on their face… including the team here and the clients they serve. This all makes for a valuable, viable business – the profits of which go right back into supporting other OAK Tasmania programs. It’s a full circle vision and that’s exactly what’s happening here at OAK Sewing Service.”
