OAK is always looking for passionate and enthusiastic individuals to participate in a wide variety of activities to contribute to our mission.

Every year caring supportive people donate their time, skills and talent towards making a difference to the lives of people with a disability. You can make a difference too!

What can you get out of volunteering?

Volunteering with OAK gives you the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many people with disabilities. You will also meet people from diverse backgrounds, who like you want to give back to the community. You may have the opportunity to work with them and share experiences. It would also give you an opportunity to make use of and grow your many talents.

The time, talent and expertise offered by our volunteers is a truly valuable resource and one which we seek to manage efficiently and responsibly to ensure your time with us is enjoyable and rewarding.

All volunteers will receive the specific training necessary to carry out tasks effectively and safely.

What you should think about before choosing a volunteer role?

To ensure that you have an enjoyable and rewarding volunteering experience with OAK we suggest you consider the following when you make the decision to commit your time and talent:

  • Your interests

It is important that the choice of your volunteer role is driven by your interests. A role which is compatible with your interests is bound to lead to a more rewarding experience.

  • Your availability

Volunteer roles at OAK differ in terms of the commitment and location required. Some roles may require you to be committed for a longer period of time compared to others. It is important that you choose a role which would fit in with your schedule and for a period of time you can commit.

What do I need to volunteer with OAK?

Volunteers will be selected on the basis of their ability to meet the role requirements of each position. All OAK volunteers must be at least 18 years old and complete a Police Check and a working with children declaration.

Volunteering is coordinated through the Head Office at Lampton Avenue, Derwent Park
